"Jackson CountyThe only contested race in Jackson County is between Donnie Schulz and Jeff Rutledge for Zone 4, Position 4, on the Newport School Board.Schulz said he wants to be involved in his children’s education.“To me, there is no one issue in particular,” Schulz said. “My four kids go there and I feel like I need to be a direct part of their lives.”Schulz, who has lived in Jackson County his entire life and in Newport for the past 20 years, said the school has improved.“They have made a lot of progress and I want them to continue,” Schulz said. “We did a book study this summer about community involvement in the schools.
